ARMA House
The ARMA House of physical theatre and performing arts opened in early 2010 near the artists’ village of Ein Hod, – by Lisa Jacobson and Gil Becher, twenty years after we founded ARMA theatre. We decided, in a courageous move and without financial support, to rent an alternative Space and set up a house for theatre and performing arts, including an acting school, a workshops center, a permanent home for ARMA theatre, to host rehearsals, performances and open-stages to independent performers and groups of theatre, dance and music. We made it possible for children, youth and adults from different populations, motivated by the desire to create a multi-disciplinary human-artistic dialogue.
Unfortunately, the neighboring village-owners of the building, stopped the rental contract, due to a letter issued by the Israel Lands Administration to all villages and kibbutzim in Israel – regarding the designation of buildings and leasing. The buildings zoned for agriculture, is now empty again, instead of having children, youth and adults enjoying theatre and creative arts in it. At present, we have no other theatre space.
