Why In Ein Hod?

-
Needs Assessment
The following have been identified as local and regional "needs":
* A regional small -sized performance center, for contemporary performing arts, that will attract national and international artists.
* A venue for the enhancement of performing arts education for children, youth and adults.
* A permanent, home for ARMA theatre which was founded in 1990 and has been working in temporary studios in the past 18 years.
* A theatre and acting school, to fulfill the needs of young students who wish to combine theatre and the related arts (design, dance, music, painting, sculpture, video-art etc.) in diverse environments and to develop a strong affinity to nature.
* A venue for artists in residency projects, national and international, to enhance the cooperation of different artists of the diverse performing arts.
* An alternative space for performing artists working at first hand with nature.
* A showcase for independent performing artists and groups to serve the broadest possible audiences for the stage arts.
* A venue for local performers of the contemporary stage arts, to enhance their visibility, production, values and audience services.
A venue for exhibitions related to the contemporary performing arts. *
* A venue for the creation of contemporary performing arts festivals.
* A neutral place for residents of the region, coming from diverse and different backgrounds such as- social class, religions, languages or political opinions, to meet, create and co-operate under the motto-"Theatre is For All !"
* A critical mass of historic, artistic and contemporary performing arts attractions to consolidate the Deer as a destination and extend the stay of the cultural tourist.
* Another catalyst to draw people into Ein-Hod artists' village and the Hof-HaCarmel region, for the continuing economic revitalization of the region.

The historic structure of the Deer in the heart of the Ein-Hod artists' village is seen as an opportunity to meet these needs when it is rehabilitated as a unique center for theatre, arts and culture in the nature.

Although it is beyond the scope of this short summary to undertake an extensive needs analysis, the project may be justified on the basis that it will:
* Become an alternative theatre center, in nature, as opposed to the urban  theatre spaces in Tel-Aviv and Jerusalem. (We want to create the first "eco-friendly" theatre in Israel)
* Respond to needs identified (above)
* Encourage trade and economic resiliency.
* Attract individual and corporate relocation.
* Promote community empathy and harmony.
* Become a permanent community asset.
* Encourage local artists to work at the center.
* Encourage local artists to co-operate with artists of diverse backgrounds.
* Establish a performing arts center in the Ein Hod artists' village, which till today emphasized mainly the fine arts, and re-establish the Ein-Hod artists' village as a leading center for arts and culture, in a natural environment, in Israel
